Smet Torwat and Other Updates
We're now a few days removed from the death of Zep Norre in the match against the Blackgate Raiders. As tensions have calmed, we've come back to try to get more info on the statuses of Smet Torwat and the Flame Wings of Caledor.
Jho the Scrubber told us that Zep's memorial had an unusual amount of women there. Jho also said that he made sure that the gravestone had the words that Zep wanted displayed and it read: I did it all for the [REDACTED]. The conversation with Jho then became awkward as he began asking for advice and explanations on why the women were avoiding him. Being the kind-hearted organization we are, we told him the he would get the answers he needed from Kitro Kreshin. When he went looking for him, we snuck out of the building.
Flame Wings' Blizter, Emsi, said that they have won the fight and gotten the owners and sponsors to demand the removal of the coach. We do not have word on who the replacement will be. We just hope that a replacement is found before the final game of the regular season with the Flame Wings just outside of the playoffs.
We tracked down Catcher Nyt Hona since Ruhntinimas gave him as a lead to information regarding Smet Torwat. Hona said that he had a small dabbling into the teachings of the oracle, Malus Cah. For those unaware, Malus Cah is a leader of sorts in a cultish movement that believes injury and suffering leads to strength. Hona said that while he looked into it he had ultimately rejected the teachings even though their message contains some truth. It was while he was looking into this philosophy that he reconnected with Torwat.
It turns out that this movement is the group that paid for Torwat's recovery after his attack in the streets. Nyt said that Smet has fully embraced the teachings of Malus Cah and that he seems to be doing well, but still not in any condition to return to the field. Hona did not have any information on why this movement put up the money for Torwat's recovery, so that's still a loose end we'll need to look into.
We were not able to find Ruhntinimas for any statements from him. After the game, he seemed to be dealing with survivors remorse due to the fact that the apothecary was called to help him rather than attempt to save Zep Norre earlier in the game. He's out with an injury, so we will not see him on the field unless the Flame Wings make it into the playoffs.
In league news, there is apparently some bureaucratic mess with the proper start of the league. So it appears that there will be a preseason 2. The Flame Wings would be allowed to return, but whether they will is not certain. The Flame Wings being without a head coach is not good for the future of the organization, but there is still hope. Once the league starts the proper first season, all teams will require teams of only inexperienced players. So, regardless of the future of the Flame Wings organization, the players will all be replaced. That was the plan before preseason 2 was announced, so we are presuming it will be the case now as well.
Those are the all the updates we have for now. If we discover more, we'll let you know.
