Smet 'The Corpse' Torwat released from the Flame Wings of Caledor
The Flame Wings of Caledor made an announcement late last night that Smet 'The Corpse' Torwat had been released from the team saying:
Due to an off-field accident, Smet Torwat had received multiple injuries. This is due to the fact that there are only 2 games left in the season, and Torwat is not expected to recover in time for either.
After some searching we tracked down the former player to find out what had happened. It appears that he suffered a broken arm and some sort of back or neck injury on top of the multiple bruises and minor lacerations. When we asked about what happened to him, we were told that he apparently fell for some con scheme of a couple of goblins and when he chased them down, he was met by a couple of Black Orcs. The group of greenskins then proceded to beat him. The medical staff said that it was odd that Smet survived alone, but that he still had all his limbs was unheard of. He's lucky that he was known in the area as a Flame Wings' player, so he was taken care of under the assumption that he had some gold, or at least someone would pay for him. We did not expect to be paid so well and so quickly, but the payment came with the stipulation that the staff help him heal while not providing any form of pain relief.
After learning this we went to the Flame Wings' coach to try and understand why they would ask for such a cruel requirement. However, the answer only left more questions. The coach stated that he was unaware that the team had paid of anything concerning Torwat's predicament. He also said that this would solve soomoe of his coaching difficulties with the reamining of members of the Four Finishers and help maintain his more civilized approach to each match.
Who did this to 'The Corpse'? And who is paying for his recovery? Why forbid pain relief? All we know is that Smet Torwat is no longer a Flame Wing of Caledor and someone is paying for his healing AND continued suffering. Maybe we'll learn more in the coming week as we continue to dig into this situation.
